Welcome to the Wiveliscombe & District Twinning Assocation website. Wiveliscombe has been twinned with Le Lion d'Angers in the Maine et Loire region of France for over 30 years. What started as an exchange between students from Kingsmead and the Secondary School in Le Lion d'Angers grew into a close friendship between the two towns, involving people of all ages from both sides of the channel.
Once every 2 years, families, couples and individuals visit France for a 5 day trip, being hosted by a family in the picturesque town of Le Lion d'Angers. During every other year, the French visit Somerset, when families in Wivey and the surrounding area host our French guests.
Spring 2019 - Wivey to host French and German visitors
Wednesday 10th - Sunday 14th April 2019
We look forward to welcoming our French and German friends to Wiveliscombe in the Spring of 2019. The dates have now been confirmed:
Arrival: Wednesday 10th April (evening)
Depart: Sunday 14th April (early morning)
Please do get in touch if you would like to get involved. During the visit, the association has planned two days of sightseeing in the South West (which hosts are welcome to join), and a 3-course dinner/disco on Friday evening. Saturday is kept free for our vistors to spend time with their host families, although this year we have arranged a Saturday morning run or walk around Clatworthy Reservoir (10:30am) for those wishing for a bit of gentle exercise (see below for full details).
Are you interested in hosting a French family for future visits?
We are always on the lookout for hosts in Wivey and the surrounding villages, so please get in touch if you would like to join in with the twinning experience (firstname.lastname@example.org).
