** PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID-19 THE PLANNED 2020 TRIP TO FRANCE WILL BE RESCHEDULED AS SOON AS IS SAFE TO DO SO**
Welcome to the Wiveliscombe & District Twinning Assocation website. Wiveliscombe has been twinned with Le Lion d'Angers in the Maine et Loire region of France for over 35 years. What started as an exchange between students from Kingsmead and the Secondary School in Le Lion d'Angers grew into a close friendship between the two towns, involving people of all ages from both sides of the channel.
Once every 2 years, families, couples and individuals visit France for a 5 day trip, being hosted by a family in the picturesque town of Le Lion d'Angers. During every other year, the French visit Somerset, when families in Wivey and the surrounding area host our French guests.
April 2021 - Visit to Le Lion d'Angers Tuesday 13th - Sunday 18th April 2021
Please note that the postponed visit to France (originally scheduled for May 2020 and then April 2021) will be rescheduled for a future date as soon as is safe to do so. Full details will be posted here.
Depart Wivey: Tuesday 13th April (afternoon) Arrive back in Wivey: Sunday 18th April (late evening)
As usual, we will be hiring a coach to take us direct from Wiveliscombe to Le Lion d'Angers via ferry from Portsmouth. Places are now available to book, so please get in touch if you would like to join the group. Our trips to France are always great fun and a great opportunity to experience life in France, even if for just a few days.
Are you interested in hosting a French family for future visits?
We are always on the lookout for hosts in Wivey and the surrounding villages, so please get in touch if you would like to join in with the twinning experience (firstname.lastname@example.org).
