Update - January 2016


The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme is being successfully rolled out across the two counties and to date over 240,000 premises are now able to access fibre broadband services.


The CDS team is pleased to inform you that broadband cabinets Wiveliscombe 7 in your area have now been fibre enabled delivering superfast broadband to an additional 22 homes and businesses.  People will need to contact their internet provider directly if they wish to take up the service, it does not happen automatically.  The following postcodes have access to superfast broadband from January 2016: TA42UN TA42EZ TA42EX TA42EY TA42EW TA42EJ TA42EH TA42EB TA42EF TA42ED TA42EE TA42HL TA42HN TA42HH TA42HJ TA42HE TA42HD TA42HG TA42HF TA42HA TA42HB TA42HQ TA42HP TA42BZ TA42BY TA42BX TA42BU  TA42EA TA42EG TA42UL TA42EQ.


The CDS website contains an interactive page showing the postcode areas which are covered by the programme which is updated as new areas go live: http://www.connectingdevonandsomerset.co.uk/where-when/


The latest cabinets are in addition to the cabinets which have already been fibre enabled by the CDS programme in your area.  CDS has provided superfast broadband to over 1000 properties from Wiveliscombe CABs.


Get Up to Speed – boosting Digital Skills


Below is some important information from the Get up to Speed team about the programme that is currently being rolled out across Devon and Somerset and how it can benefit your parishes.


Get up to Speed is a fully funded service aimed at helping communities and businesses understand and make the most of the benefits of faster broadband. The service is part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset programme and is an essential part of securing future economic growth for our region.
 
The Get up to Speed team delivers free talks and workshops to boost digital skills throughout the whole of Devon and Somerset, including North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset. As part of the phased rollout programme Get up to Speed will be issuing parish clerks with information packs on hosting  free Get up to Speed events to boost residents' digital skills.


Get up to Speed will also be sending similar packs to businesses, community organisations and schools, with tailored activity menus. The talks and workshops cover a wide range of topics such as making the most of tablets, social media, e-newsletters, staying safe online, digital photography, video and blogging.

The CDS team is pleased to inform you that broadband cabinets Wiveliscombe 3 and 5 Milverton 5 have now been fibre enabled, delivering superfast broadband to an additional 225 homes and businesses.  


People will need to contact their internet provider directly if they wish to take up the service, it does not happen automatically.
