The High Park Music Project offers children from within the 10 Parishes surrounding Wiveliscombe in Somerset an affordable opportunity to learn to play Clarinet, Flute or Saxophone in a band. For a weekly donation of £2 per child they can come to one of the three one hour sessions that are run on Saturday mornings during term time. This includes the use of an instrument which is provided by local fundraising and sponsorship.
High Park Music Project meets at the Scout Hut which is in Old Brewery Road, off Ford Road, Wiveliscombe.
Youngsters from year 3/4 and into secondary school are able to join High Park, with a new intake of children every September when a new group, sometimes 2, will be started on the instrument of their choice after a try-out session which is normally near the beginning of the term.
Children who already play an instrument are also always welcome to join High Park and may join one of the established groups if they are at a higher level than the beginner group.
High Park members often play at concerts and events in the local area and you can find out more about this by checking the events page on the website
It is the inspiration of professional music teachers, Hilary Wickham and Louise Toomer who have a wealth of musical experience between them. They share a passionate belief that every child should have the opportunity to access music.
