WAFT is composed of like-minded individuals keen to see Wivey as a Fairtrade Town (achieved February 2005) as a way of showing solidarity with global justice and global trade agreements and a means to generate sustainable livelihoods.
The aims of the group are:
- Celebrate Fairtrade.
- Increase consumer & retailer understanding of Fairtrade across the 10 Parishes, through talks, stalls, press, radio etc.
- Support existing sellers and servers of Fairtrade products, through joint promotion / marketing.
Short Term objectives:
- Ensure continued FairTrade Town status for Wivey.
- Extend to Fairtrade Zone for 10 Parishes.
