W.A.C. was formed in 1998 to co-ordinate initiatives to attract Arts funding and resources to the Wiveliscombe area.

It provides an umbrella organisation for local groups seeking help with arts projects. The open membership of the Consortium includes representatives from a cross-section of bodies with the cultural, social and economic values of the community at heart:Wiveliscombe Parish Council; The Congregational Church; The Historical Society;The Wiveliscombe Messenger;Adult Learning and Leisure;Wiveliscombe Arts Group;The Jim Laker Fund;Wiveliscombe Civic Society; St. Andrews Church; Hurstone Artists;The Parish Maps Group;Cinema Obscura;Taunton Deane Borough Council and several individuals with the same broad interests. The success of this co-operative approach is now evident in the Wiveliscombe Heritage Arts Trail and The Brewery Plaque Trail which celebrate the distinct identity of Wivey and its unique history.
