Wivey Link Community Transport is a community-based dial-a-ride taxi service

Wivey Link, the Dial-a-Ride passenger service for the people of the western end of Taunton Deane & West Somerset has been run from the Community Office in Wiveliscombe House since March 1st 2004.

When it became clear that Taunton Dean Community Transport wished to hand over responsibility for running this service, the Wiveliscombe Area Partnership ( Parish Council, Civic Society, Area Business Group and others) saw it as a golden opportunity to bring it to Wiveliscombe, improve the service and let it be run by local people for local people.

Hours of Operation

  • The Telephone lines are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m.to 11.00a.m. General enquiries can be made through the Community Office during their opening hours.
  • Transport can be arranged for Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, subject to availability.

What's New

This now is a reality - the service is run from Wiveliscombe. So what is new?

  • The management of this service was transferred to Wivey Link Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wiveliscombe Area Partnership, which, amongst other things, runs the Area Community Office.
  • The service is available to all residents of the area! (23 parishes around Wiveliscombe) In addition we will be able to take the frail, elderly and disabled into the Taunton Hospitals & Shopmobility. 'Disabled' refers to a condition, whether temporary or permanent.
  • All passengers MUST register in advance. This can be done by telephone or by calling into the Area Community Office at Wiveliscombe House.
  • A new brochure outlining the service is available. Some new parishes to the west have been included at the request of the Surgery.
  • All normal day drivers will be volunteers who are giving up time to the service of the community; this is the only way this type of service can be viable in the long term and it will be important that the community as a whole support us by using it as much as possible.
  • Queries about the service should be addressed to the staff in Wiveliscombe House who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We would like to hear from you at any time if you have ideas which might further improve our service.
