The concept of the Brewery Plaque Trail which then developed into the WHAT (Wiveliscombe Arts Heritage Trail) project, originally came from the Jim Laker Fund's desire to celebrate the brewing industry in the town. It was decided to mark some of the sites of the 28 previously existing pubs and inns with glass, mosaic, carved slate and sculpted pieces.
