September Photo Project - ' Ten Parishes'

Pictures should aim to capture something about the Ten Parishes area (Ashbrittle, Bathealton, Brompton Ralph, Chipstable, Clatworthy, Fitzhead, Huish Champflower, Milverton, Stawley and Wiveliscombe). The 10 Parishes Festival is on from 10th to 18th September so there are plenty of places to go and lots to do.

There is a secondary purpose to this months project. The Wiveliscombe Area Website is being relaunched to coincide with the festival. It has undergone a major overhaul both in terms of appearance and content, and is designed as a key resource for the community. You will notice that on each of the pages on the site there is a banner image, which for the most part is generic. However, we would like this to be a themed image relevant to the topic in question. Note that as its a thin slice, you may have to be careful in composing your photos to make this possible. Many of the other topics on the site would benefit from relevant images, so any other photos could be used for that purpose.

Please feel free to snap away to your hearts content. People, places, activities, you name it, they are all relevant! For the next meeting, please bring along your pictures on a memory card, CD-R or other format that allows us to take a copy for the archive (and of course prints if you want to discuss any at the meeting).

August Meeting

Turn out again at the meeting was a little dissappointing, but there were different faces this time. The change of date seemed to catch a few people out, and there was 2 new members expected. Also not helped by Karin having a senior moment herself and not being there to open the gallery. Still, Trish and Bryns house was an excellent substitute.

We are assuming that the summer is less ideal as no doubt many people want to be out taking photos while the light is good! It was suggested that perhaps the summer meeting dates should be combined as the field trips previously discussed, which might work as a better format. We'll give that some thought and discussion over the winter and see how things pan out.

Messenger Photos

The Wiveliscombe Messenger has been asking for Photos from the forum to be printed in each issue, space permitting. There are some difficulties here obviously, as the Messenger is B&W only and of relatively low print quality. Not all photo's will be suitable. We decided that a picture should be chosen from each month's theme, and submitted to the Messenger for inclusion. Frankie Dransfield's image from Dunster Fair was chosen from those available this month.

Conclusion

Remember that the Photo Forum is for you to share and enjoy your hobby. If there is anything that you would like to see, please let me know and we'll try to get things off the ground.

I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
