July Photo Project - 'Portraits'

Our project for July is going to be 'portraits', which could be either human or animal. The idea is to get 'up close and personal', at least from the pictures perspective. I've found that my 300mm zoom lens is great for capturing candid pictures of people without the realising, that way you get a good natural look, as opposed to a 'posed' shot which can often look stilted and lifelike. That will partly depend on how you engage with the subject of course, but people act differently when they know they are being filmed. Shorter lenses are going to require you to get quite close to your subject.

For portraits, we're looking for head and shoulders or less. Part of the face can be very engaging in this sort of image. Take a look through the newspapers for inspiration in composition, as they often use the ploy, and depth of field too! A real opportunity to put your skills to the test!

For those who came along to the last meeting, which was a walk about Wiveliscombe, there are of course the fruits of your labours there as well, so do feel free to bring those along too.

Change of Venue!

Our regular meeting venue will now change to The Bear Inn, at the same time, 7:30pm on the last Thursday of the month.

Posters

Anyone displaying a poster for the Photo Forum, please can you remove them for the time being, as the venue is misleading. I'll make some new ones for the next meeting.

Remember that the Photo Forum is for you to share and enjoy your hobby. If there is anything that you would like to see, please let me know and we'll try to get things off the ground. If you have any ideas or thoughts for what to discuss or learn about at a meeting, let me know so that I can announce it to all in advance.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
