Busy Bees pre-school playgroup in Wiveliscombe has for the last 6 years opted out of the government run Ofsted education curriculum.

We have until now been very fortunate in having the support of many local parents and securing grants along with actively fundraising to keep ourselves going without the help of large government grants and funding which the government will only give if their ideas on education are followed.

Unfortunately we now find ourselves in the position of having dwindling numbers and so have no alternative but to opt back into the Ofsted education curriculum This will enable us to offer free sessions to 3 & 4 year olds and hopefully increase our numbers, the free places should be available in early 2006.

Whilst we do this very regretfully we also look forward to having many more children coming to join us and the emphasis for us at Busy Bees will still be on play. We have a great team which includes Jacky Bramham (Play leader) Gill Milton (Asst. Supervisor) and Angela Crump (Play Assistant) who all give the children the time and attention they need whilst guiding them through the best 2 years of fun and messiness before going off to school. We now also have a new member joining us: Lisa Bedding will work alongside Jacky, Gill and Angela and take over the running of the playgroup in September 2006 when Jacky will retire (We've tried to talk her out of this but after 20 years she feels it is time to sit back relax, and enjoy the memories of all those children she has cared for).
