The 10 Parishes has its own dedicated worker enabling and facilitating the development of the area. The Project Coordinator has a number of key roles:
Enabling and facilitating groups and projects:
This can be from working with existing community groups and helping them to move forward to setting up new projects that meet the needs of the community.
Advising on and sourcing funding:
The Project Coordinator has access to a number of different areas for funding. If you are in a community group and want to source funding then this is a great place to start.
Advising on Community Planning:
Community Planning is a constantly evolving as the government develops its strategies and policies for the future of local communities. More information on this can be found from http://www.odpm.gov.uk
Working with partners:
The Project Coordinator works closely with officers from Taunton Deane Borough Council, Somerset County Council and other government and non-governmental organisations.
Helping to develop the 10 Parishes Organisation:
This is crucial to the future of the area in terms of creating a community owned organisation across 10 individual Parishes. The organisation needs to be workable (i.e. not too large) and focused on what it wants to achieve.
Implementing the Community Strategy:
The Community Strategy represents the thoughts and views of the people that live within the 10 Parishes. The Project Coordinator is helping to achieve a number of projects that came out of the consultations. These range from getting a Community Facility for the area to improving the provision of youth related services.
