This walk is a little under 2 1/2 miles and takes one and a half hours. It is quite strenuous if you are not used to hills.

The walk starts in the Square. Walk along West Street and then go up the alley on the right hand side of West Street, opposite the garage. Go up here for about 450 yards until you get to Kingsmead House entrance. Straight ahead you can see a muddy track, go up here for about 3/4 mile. This lane is called Jews Lane, and got its name from the D'Ewe family who owned land near it a long time ago.

When the lane turns into a metalled track, you are at the top. Don't go downhill, but instead follow the track around. Keep going along here for about 350 yards and leave the track when you see a gate straight ahead of you. The gate has a yellow arrow on a green background on the post. Walk along the hedge at the edge of the field until you see a gate on the left hand side and then walk on the other side of the hedge, as on a clear day you can see Wellington monument and nearly all the way down the road to Taunton.

Follow the track round and go through the gate on the right hand side. Immediately go through another gate which is the entrance to Kitts Lane; here the path is quite steep. When you reach the bottom of Kitts Lane, turn left and walk down the road to a junction,. Go straight across here and over a stile on the right hand side. Walk across this field diagonally towards the other stile at the bottom of this field and on to the road.

The route continues eastwards downhill along the main road towards Wiveliscombe. Initially there is no pavement so it is important to be very alert to traffic, especially if walking with small children and dogs. Wiveliscombe town centre is reached in just under 1/2 a mile
